Top 5 Criteria for an Enterprise Energy Data Management Platform

What is important to you when you are considering database management in the oil and gas technology space? Modern tools for piping data into business-specific applications are revolutionizing the way we work today, and it is so important for those tools to check all the boxes. When the tool you choose is designed, developed, and supported by industry veterans you can expect a higher level of expertise. Read on to see what our clients gain when they adopt the Energy Data Conduit.

  1. Scalability and Flexibility: I put these in the same category because they are so closely tied when it comes to data management. A solution that is built to allow scalable and manageable mastering of the data across the data stores is always going to win. Add the flexibility to integrate internal data alongside subscription and public data for the client for an all-inclusive experience. Additionally, we offer the capability to host in a variety of environments including On-Premise, Co-Lo, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon AWS to name a few.

  2. Affordability: Our solutions are tailored to your organization’s needs and metrics. There are no per-seat or per-use charges, no additional website logins to manage, so you are not limited to who is in the system and when. You simply cannot build out a comparable platform in-house for less money.

  3. Transparency: Monitored and Maintained, providing transparency into the system and processes. ConduitControl is an innovative solution to this that allows Team Conduit to proactively manage your data. With ConduitControl your IT admins and anyone else given permissions can access all data loader notifications. This enables the client to be as hands-on (or hands-off) as they prefer.

  4. Easy to Consume and Access: User access and database maintenance should fit in with current IT practices and strategies. All our data management solutions fit into your current domain environment and are quickly deployed. The ability to easily integrate new sources into the system should be seamless and never burden the client. Conduit Launchpad provides access to pre-built views and templates making it easy to jump right into a favorite workflow. Our ready to go systems include esri’s ArcMap and ArcGIS Enterprise, the Microsoft Office Suite, Tibco’s Spotfire, Aries integrations and more!

  5. Well Documented: Every single product that Conduit manages comes complete with Entity Relationship Diagrams and column level table detail definitions. What's more, is that we have oil and gas experts providing the best support available in the industry.

At Conduit Resources, we feel your petro-technical staff should be focused on making decisions, not managing data. Let us do the leg work for you. We manage data feeds into your applications of choice and empower you to make decisions knowing your data is up-to-date and evergreen.

Don’t Forget to be Extra Spatial

How using subsurface spatialized geometries improves your wellbore level analytics.

Big data and analytics have gotten ample attention in the oil and gas industry lately. With such urgency to get ahead of the technology curve it begs the question, have we been doing it with a lack of full-spectrum (especially subsurface) spatial awareness? I am not suggesting we are haphazardly geo-locating wells in the incorrect coordinate system or projection. I am talking about breaking down horizontal wellbores into smaller sections and teasing out trends you may otherwise overlook. If you run production metrics over the entire wellbore or associate it only with the surface location, you may arrive at some misleading answers.

Our developers have engineered the data to deliver analytics-ready geometries for the lateral section, perforated interval, and treated interval. By segregating portions of the wellbore, the interpreter can focus on what matters to them. Take a scenario where you are drilling a wildcat…wait it is 2020 and nobody is doing that but just imagine for a second. You are drilling the vertical or building the curve and you get some unusual gas kicks and your cuttings are fluorescing. If you perf those sections, you are likely going to want to analyze that production over the life of the well separately.

The Energy Data Conduit gives way to these workflows (in addition to so much more) on top of delivering evergreen and enriched datasets to your preferred deep-dive application. Our clients drive the solutions we build, and we pride ourselves on creativity and ingenuity in the oil and gas tech space.

Conduit Resources Celebrates 5 Years

5-Year-Celebration_500.png

Anniversaries are meaningful. Wedding anniversaries, work anniversaries, company inception anniversaries are all worth celebrating. Conduit Resources is celebrating its 5 year anniversary in 2020 and while there is a lack of champagne toasts (at least in person) it is still worth acknowledging and celebrating this special occasion.

Conduit Resources began, as many of the oil and gas tech start-ups did since the last major oil price crash of 2015; amid a desperate push to create efficiencies and drive value. Charlie Strickler (CEO) and Bob Killingsworth (Software Engineer) had been working on solutions for data management and integration of disparate data sets at Forest Oil Corporation when they decided to build what is known today as The Energy Data Conduit. Before Conduit the capability for robust analytical software applications to ingest various local sources of data via SQL databases and remain evergreen was only achieved at great cost by a select few operators. Now these valuable and affordable data management products are available to oil and gas companies of all sizes and operational strategies.

In January of 2015, armed with a small team of incredibly sharp software engineers and industry professionals, Conduit was formed. Within the first year, Conduit had signed 12 companies and knew they had a viable product for the oil and gas market. Today Conduit serves roughly 95 clients and 17 different data sources for both proprietary and vendor data stores.

Just because 2020 has been somewhat of a bust, especially for the oil and gas business, Conduit has not altered its focus on providing the industry-leading, cost-effective data management software product. We are diligently working on new capabilities and still signing new clients during this pivotal time in energy technology. Because the bottom line of what we do is save people time and money.

No Anniversary should be celebrated alone, so thank you to all our Clients and Partners that have helped our dream become a reality. We are very excited to see what the next 5 years hold for Conduit and the energy industry.

Thanks,

The Conduit Team
